A retiree health reimbursement arrangement (RHRA) is an employer-funded account designed to help retired employees pay for plan-eligible medical expenses during retirement, including individual health insurance and Medicare premiums.
An employer can use an HRA to reimburse Medicare premiums. Small employers (< 50 employees) can use a QSEHRA to reimburse Medicare premiums. Large employers can use an ICHRA to reimburse Medicare premiums.
A Spousal Reimbursement HRA reimburses employees' qualified medical expenses who are enrolled in their spouse’s plan. This HRA incentivize employees to enroll in their spouse’s plans instead of their Employer’s plan.
